Gôiya derives its name from the San word for wine. The Gôiya range - a Chardonnay/Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz/Pinotage - enjoys popularity in 15 countries and counts among South Africa's ten largest wine trademarks abroad.
Goiya Shiraz Pinotage
75% Shiraz, 25% Pinotage. This full, smooth red, a blend of Shiraz and the Cape's own unique variety, Pinotage, displays sweet aromas of ripe red fruits with rich spicy flavours on the palate - exudes ripe berry flavors, with a hint of spices on taste. Winemaker Len Knoetze advises wine lovers to enjoy the wine with meat dishes, pasta, pizza or cheese, within 12 months of purchase.
Having never had a South African wine, I found this to be a good wine that would match up well with with flavorful beef meals. The pinotage adds a bit of balance to the shiraz for an interesting blend. And we paid $8 for the bottle. Good stuff.
